Your photo is only used to draw your design

The short version

• The photo you upload and the names you type are used only to draw your design. We do not publish them or show them to anyone.
• Your photo is not kept to build a profile of you, and it is never used for advertising or to train anything.
• To deliver an order we need your name, email and delivery address. The card is handled by Stripe; we never see it.
• The site has no advertising, no tracking cookies and no account.

What happens when you design a T-shirt

You choose a photo in your browser. Before it leaves your device, your browser reduces it and removes its metadata (including location). Then it is sent, with the names you typed, to our drawing server, which sends back the preview picture.

The photo is not stored: it is processed and discarded. To make repeated requests fast, the finished preview picture (not your photo) can be kept for up to one hour.

If you add an image for the back, it stays in your browser until you place an order.

What we receive when you order, and why

• The print file (your design, and the back image if you added one) and the list of names: to print your order. Shared with Gelato, our printer.
• Your name, email and delivery address, and a phone number if you give one: to deliver the order and send the receipt. Shared with Gelato (delivery) and Stripe (receipt).
• Payment details: to take payment. Handled by Stripe only; we never receive them.

Who else handles it

• Stripe processes payments (stripe.com/privacy).
• Gelato prints and ships the order (gelato.com/legal/privacy).
• Cloudflare hosts this website and passes our requests to our server (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy).
• Our drawing and order server, where the print file waits until it reaches the printer.

How long we keep it

• Photos used only for previews are not kept (see above).
• For paid orders we keep the order details and the print file for as long as we need to deliver the order, give you support and meet tax and accounting rules. You can ask us to delete them at any time.

Your rights, and how to delete your data

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it, by writing to hello@madeofnames.com from the address you ordered with. We will answer within 30 days. To delete your data, write “delete my data”: we then delete your order details and print file, except what the law obliges us to keep, and ask Gelato and Stripe to delete theirs.

If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your data protection authority. We handle your order details because you asked us to make and ship your order.
